The goal of this project is to make a visual social network style app. After some thinking and bouncing ideas around, I decided to call the app COBWEB. With a focus on cutting out the crap of other platforms such as excessive UI features seen on facebook, I decided I wanted a minimalist experience to help the user connect to the media without getting distracted.
The LOGO that would be used for the app button on the phone's home screen.
The Home screen. I wanted to keep my colour pallete monochrome so that the coloured media on the app would stand out more and distract the user less.
The search page. I drew inspiration from both Instagram and Pinterest for this screen; split in two, offering two modes of searching/exploration. The top half is suggested searches, andthe bottom half is current trending media of the day.
The Upload screen. This gives the user 3 options: the phone's camera can be accessed, either to take photo or video. The library button takes the user to their camera roll. I decided to implement bigger buttons, as i found on apps such as instagram, switching between modes can be a bit inconsistent due to rather small buttons.
This is the Notifications page. By default the user is taken to the "MY STUFF" tab which shows all notifications relating to the user's content such as likes, comments and people who have started following you.
This is the 2nd half of the notifications screen: "NEWS". This page shows notifcations of your friends' activity - people they've followed and content they've liked and commented on.
The profle page, featuring a central, bigger profile picture to increase user identity, as well as a larger bio space to allow the user more space and words to express themselves. The lower half of the screen is reserved for content uploaded by the user and is shown in a grid layout.
